Who is the course for?
This qualification is for those working in careers advice roles, external agency and voluntary service signposting roles, and roles where staff who work in other organisations provide career advice, information employability support and signposting as part of their own broader work role. This qualification will provide accredited professional professional development opportunities for those working in these areas and encourage profession in the sector

Level 4 Diploma in Careers Information Advice & Guidance
Learners will need to complete 30 credits from the five mandatory units and 15 credits from a wide range of optional units which are selected according to their job role.
- Unit 1 - Preparing to work in the career information, advice and guidance sector
- Unit 2 - Reflecting on practice and continuous professional development
- Unit 3 - Interview clients to determine their need for career information, advice and guidance
- Unit 4 – Meeting the career-related information needs of clients
- Unit 5 - Career choice theories and concepts to support clients
The mandatory units cover areas such as career guidance theories; interviewing clients, reflective practice and CPD.
Once registered, learners will need to complete five mandatory units and 15 credits from a wide range of optional units which are selected according to their job role. The mandatory units cover areas such as career guidance theories; interviewing clients; reflective practice and CPD.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment for this qualification will be through a range of evidence produced by the learner after guidance by their appointed assessor. The assessment methods include: 1:1 observation of working with clients in the workplace, reflective accounts, personal statements, witness testimonies and questioning. Learners will have up to two years to complete the qualification, but is anticipated that it would be completed in approximately one year; this is no fixed start date.
