A relevant Level 2 qualification. If you do not have GCSEs in English and/or maths at grade 4 (grade C) or above you will take a formal test in those subjects. ICT skills are essential and you will have a College interview and may also be required to sit an Access test. Progressing students should have a minimum attendance of 85% and an excellent college report.
Students returning to education to complete a 1 year foundation programme giving access to university. Access to HE courses are intended for mature students who have been out of education for some time. This generally means that students should be at least 19 when they start the course. Universities and colleges expect Access to HE applicants to have acquired a certain amount of life experience before they start an Access to HE course, so applicants who have only recently left school may be advised to follow a different route into higher education.
A variety of modes of delivery are used including lectures, group work and discussion, roblem solving activities, presentations and seminars, individual practical work in class, irected private study time, individual support and interviews.
There will be a variety of assessment methods for each unit in order to achieve credits, and there will be some
time constrained tests or examinations in some of the units.
Successful students can go on to study a BTEC Level 4 HNC/Level 5 HND in Business at Uxbridge College or a full or part-time degree at most UK universities.
Once completed further study at university, students can go into employment in the business sector.
