This course is for those who work in a learning support capacity e.g. as a teaching assistant in a primary, secondary, special or hospital school. Potential candidates must be supporting teaching and learning in a school for at least eight hours a week and need to have been in that role for a minimum of six months.
The certificate covers the skills and knowledge of the level 2 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and learning in schools. There are 5 mandatory units 5 units to be covered Unit 201 Child and your person development, Unit 202 Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, Unit 203 Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults, Unit 204 Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people and Unit 205 Schools as organisations and further optional units to achieve a minimum of 6 credits (total of 30 credits).
Theory, assignment and work based observations.
Achievement, taught and work based assessments. There is no exam and 85% attendance is required.
Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
