AAT LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING

Course units include:

  • Introduction to Bookkeeping
  • Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
  • Principles of Costing
  • The Business Environment

    AAT LEVEL 1 AWARD IN BUSINESS SKILLS

    This Level 1 qualification covers a range of skills and relevant supporting knowledge to help prepare students for applying numbers in business and working in a business environment.

    It will give students an understanding of:

  • How different organisations operate
  • How to contribute effectively in the workplace
  • How businesses process sales and purchases, and the documents and procedures associated with this.

    Students will also be equipped with the basic numerical skills needed in the workplace, such as decimals, percentages and fractions, and applying proportions and ratios.
  • Entry requirements

    GCSE grade 4-9 in English & Maths or equivalent with good level of IT skills.

    Candidate may be asked to take entrance tests in numeracy, literacy and accounting.

    Interview required.

  • Who is the course for?

    Students who wish to gain a professional qualification and are aiming to be employed in an accounting or financial environment.

  • Study methods

    The aim is to provide a good theoretical understanding of bookkeeping and accounts and to reinforce learning with simulated workplace assignments. In addition to college attendance, students must be prepared to commit to at least 15 hours of study time per week.

  • How is the course assessed?

    There is a computer based exam for each of the units.
    In addition, students would need to complete 40 hours of accounting related work experience.

    Students who achieve a Merit at level 2 can apply for AAT level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting.
