Foundation Learning & Skills for Life

The programme offers participants the opportunity to build confidence and gain new skills in a supportive, informal environment. Participants will be engaged in:

  • Team Building - residential trip
  • Community Project - contributing to the local community
  • Work Placement
  • Team Challenge
  • Caring for Others
  • Practical and Creative Workshops
  • Team Presentation.
  • Entry requirements

    You should have an interest in the subject area you are applying for.

    There are no formal entry requirements but we will assess your level of English and Maths to make sure you are working at Entry Level 3 or above. This is to ensure you are able to meet the course requirements.

  • Who is the course for?

    The team programme is for enthusiastic 16-25 year olds who would like to develop their confidence and personal skills, as well as broaden their experience and gain a nationally recognised qualification.

  • Study methods

    Learners keep a diary of the activities they participate in a portfolio. At the end of the programme, this is presented as evidence for the qualification.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Learners produce a portfolio of evidence that is presented to claim the qualification. Learners will cover topics like:

    • Community Project
    • Teamwork
    • Presentation Skills
    • Work Experience
    • Career Planning
    • Planning for Progression
    • Supporting Others.

      Portfolios are assessed throughout the course of the programme. Internal and external verification occurs on completion.

    Learners will be better prepared for entry into the job market, with increased confidence and develop practical strategies to help them find employment.

    Learners will also be better prepared for entry into further training and vocational apprenticeships.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    Learners will be better prepared for college courses with guidance and support offered in making the next step.
