Uxbridge College is pleased to announce the appointment of Clive Hodge as its new College Principal. Part of the Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges (HRUC) group, Uxbridge College is one of the largest further education providers and the only Further Education college in the London Borough of Hillingdon, offering a wide range of academic and vocational programmes for 16–18-year-olds and adult learners as well as supporting a large number of apprentices and delivering Higher Education qualifications.
Dylan McTaggart becomes HRUC’s Group Executive Principal
Clive is the eighth Principal to lead Uxbridge College and will continue the College’s incredible work. He succeeds Dylan McTaggart who now becomes HRUC’s Group Executive Principal. Clive begins his new role officially in February and will be transitioning to Uxbridge College from January into his new role.
Interim arrangements for the principal’s role at Harrow College will be announced shortly, ensuring continuity while the recruitment of a permanent appointment continues.
Uxbridge College delivering training and learning for over 60 years
Established in 1965 as Uxbridge Technical College, Uxbridge College is proud to have delivered education, training and learning opportunities to the local community in Hillingdon Borough, and beyond, for over 60 years. In that time we have achieved an Outstanding Ofsted grade, been recognised as London’s top performing college with the highest achievement rates for 16-18 year olds, supported hundreds of students to progress to their first-choice university – including accepting places at Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions – and provided thousands of students with the skills and knowledge they need to achieve excellent jobs.
Clive brings more than 20 years of Further Education experience to the role. Beginning his teaching career in 2004, he has held several senior leadership positions and joined Farnborough College in 2018 as Vice Principal, where he played a key role in steering the college to its outstanding Ofsted grade. He joined HRUC as Principal of Harrow College in 2023.
A passionate champion
Before entering FE, Clive trained as an Electrical/Electronic Engineer through an apprenticeship at his local college and went on to work for major London corporations as a Communications Engineer. He holds both engineering qualifications and a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Management.
As a former FE student, Clive is a passionate champion of the sector’s power to transform lives and expand opportunities.
Clive said ‘I am delighted to lead Uxbridge College at such an exciting time. I am committed to building on the college’s strong foundations and working with our exceptional staff to ensure every learner feels empowered, inspired, and supported to achieve their ambitions.”
Keith Smith, HRUC CEO said: “We are delighted to welcome Clive into this role. Uxbridge College already has a strong local presence, an outstanding track record in education, and a vibrant community of 6,000 students across further education, apprenticeships, and higher education. Clive will build on Dylan’s excellent leadership across our established campuses in Hayes and Uxbridge — including the flagship STEM building for our West London Institute of Technology — as well as overseeing our exciting new Barra Hall SEND campus, opening in September 2026.”
