Beauty Therapy

Students will study the following units:

  • Unit 308 Provide Electrical Epilation
  • Unit 401 Quality management of client in the hair and beauty sector
  • Unit 408 Advanced Epilation Techniques
  • Unit 407 Physiology of ageing
  • Unit 409 Laser and Light treatments for hair removal
  • Unit 410 Laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation.
  • Entry requirements

    Students should have one of the following:

    • Level 3 NVQ/SNQ or VRQs in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy or equivalent
    • Level 3 Modern/Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy
    • Level of expertise commensurate with a Level 3 qualification
    • Relevant work experience that can be demonstrated through the APL procedure and/or appropriate certification.
  • Who is the course for?

    This course is for beauty therapists that are looking to develop their skills in laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation. It is suitable for students aged 18+, due to the health and safety procedures around working with laser and light treatments.

    Practical and theory sessions, case studies and assignments.

  • How is the course assessed?

    There are practical assessment tasks and knowledge and understanding tasks along with graded assignments.

    Students will be expected to take part in a one week work experience.
    City and Guilds are the awarding body and the course attracts 49 credits. Students will have 290-305 planned learning hours.

    Providing professional consultations and expert skin analysis for clients in a clinic for treatments of hair removal and skin rejuvenation using laser and light.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    You can progress onto other courses for Beauty Therapists who wish to learn more about advanced aesthetic treatments at Levels 5, 6 and 7 and provide professional consultations and expert skin analysis for clients in a salon. Progression into Salon Management and Product Sciences providing professional consultations and expert skin analysis for clients in a salon is also another progression route.
