What I liked best about Uxbridge College was its practical, hands-on approach to learning. The welcoming and diverse student body fostered a great atmosphere, and the location made it convenient to get in and out of college.

Why did you choose to study at HRUC?

I chose to come to Uxbridge College because the computing courses and modules are highly relevant to my career goals. The course covers practical areas such as programming, networking, databases, cybersecurity, and web development, which match the skills I want to develop.

What did you enjoy most about college?

I enjoyed the sophisticated computer labs, helpful tutors, and access to cutting-edge software and equipment, which made learning more interesting.

What did you enjoy most about your subjects?

What I enjoyed most was how practical and relevant the subjects are to real-world technology. The computing course allowed me to apply what I had learnt in subjects like programming, networking, and cybersecurity in real-world lab sessions, rather than just theory.

What is your biggest achievement during your time at college?

My biggest achievement during my time at college was getting distinctions in all my modules over the two years. It showed me that my hard work and dedication really paid off. Additionally, I've held a leadership role as a Student Academic Representative and was selected to represent international students nationally at the UKCISA Fest 2023.

What are your aspirations and plans for the future?

My future ambition is to continue immediately to Buckinghamshire New University to pursue an integrated Master’s in Cybersecurity (MSci).

My aspiration is to become an expert in cybersecurity, contributing to protecting systems and data from cyber threats. I hope to later pursue a PhD to deepen my expertise and contribute to advanced research in cybersecurity.

Who or what inspires you, and why?

Women in technology who have made a name for themselves in a male-dominated industry and demonstrated that skill and perseverance can overcome obstacles. Their accomplishments inspire me to work hard, pursue cybersecurity, and contribute significantly to technology while promoting diversity in the field.

What advice would you give to students who are thinking about studying at college?

I would advise you to make the most of the resources and assistance that are available. Talk to your tutors, make use of the labs and library, and don't be embarrassed to seek assistance when you need it. Keep your mind open, put in a lot of effort, and concentrate on developing real-world skills. College is what you make of it, so make the most of it!
