This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years (0–5 years).
It also provides introductory sector knowledge of professional practice to support wider contextual understanding of the early years practitioner route and optional units that provide learners with transferable employability skills.
It contains knowledge and skills that meet the Department for Education Early Years Practitioner (DfE EYP) criteria in full and map to the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) within the Early Years Educator occupational standard in England.

Entry requirements
There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for these qualifications, however you will be assessed at interview in regards to your English and Maths skill level.

Who is the course for?
These qualifications are designed for learners aged 19 years and above.

Study methods
There is a mix of classroom-based learning, online modules, and practical workshops. Independent study and research are encouraged to deepen understanding.

How is the course assessed?
Portfolio-based learning: the qualification is assessed through an internally assessed and externally quality-assured portfolio of evidence. Learners compile evidence such as assignments, case studies, observations, and reflective accounts. Practical experience is crucial for applying theoretical knowledge and completing observed assessments.

This qualification may be eligible for funding.
Lessons will be on Mondays and Wednesdays . Students will also be required to complete 250 placement hours while undertaking this qualification.
