This qualification meets the needs of candidates who want to work in the Hair and Beauty sector.

Candidates will learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Hair sector.

This qualifications, has mandatory content plus a range of optional units such as:

  • Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector
  • Presenting a Professional Image in a Salon
  • Shampoo and Conditioning
  • Styling Women’s Hair
  • Plaiting and Twisting Hair.

    There are not any set entry requirements.

  • Who is the course for?

    This course is aimed at adult learners who are 24 years and over.

    These qualifications are for those individuals who are just starting out in Hair and Beauty and want an understanding of the industry to succeed in a job or undertake further study.

    This qualification provides valuable accreditation of skills and/or knowledge for candidates, without requiring or proving occupation competence.

    Practical and Theory.

  • How is the course assessed?

    The course is assessed through practical assessments in a realistic salon environment, plus written assignment work. These will be combined together to create a portfolio of evidence.

    Course delivery days are as follows:

    • Tuesday 9:30 - 12:30 and 13:00 - 15:00 - 5 hrs a week from 27/01/26 - 26/06/26.
  • Where Next – Job Opportunities

    Students can go on to get jobs as a Salon Junior and/or Shampooist.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    On completion of the qualification candidates may progress into employment or to the following City & Guilds qualifications:

    • Level 1 Foundation Diploma in Creative Hair and Beauty Studies
    • 3002 Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing
    • 3003 Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
