In this course you will develop practical music performance skills by rehearsing and performing songs to different audiences in a variety of band and crew roles.
You will have the opportunity to build teamwork, adaptability, and professional skills through randomly assigned bands, songs, and live event responsibilities.
You will be able to create original music compositions using recorded environmental and college sounds, with a focus on creativity, composition, and arrangement.
This course will encourage you to enhance research, communication, and presentation skills through paired presentations and discussions of creative projects and musical influences.
As part of your course work you will complete either a performance or recording project, developing industry-relevant skills through live performances or the production of at least two recorded tracks.

Entry requirements
4 GCSEs grade 3 (grade D) or above preferably including both English & maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification. Candidates should be able to play an instrument to a good standard.

Who is the course for?
This one year UAL qualification course puts you, the student at the centre of your training. We look at the skills and strengths that you bring and develop them, helping you to reach your full potential.
This course is designed to develop a wide range of music making skills, including music performance and music production and is aimed at learners who have a musical background and who want to hone their skills in a collaborative manner, to get ready for work in the music industry. -
Study methods
You will be taught in both a classroom-based environment, as well as in our state-of-the-art music studios.
The course follows a hands on project based approach to learning where you will have to contribute in a wide array of roles during the whole year. These roles include working as a sound engineer, producer, crew member or accompanying performer.
The goal is that by the end of the year you can demonstrate a portfolio of skills that a well-rounded musician needs to survive in todays music industry. -
How is the course assessed?
You will develop as both a performer and as a music producer, collaborating with other members of your group on different projects throughout the year.
Projects will take many forms, including composing music, creating your own single/EP, performing original and cover material as a band and sound engineering. You will focus on developing your own role throughout the year. -
