Foundation Learning & Skills for Life
Our courses are suitable for students with a wide range of learning difficulties or disabilities, who have few or no formal qualifications and who require support to help them work towards a specific goal or gain a qualification.
What’s it like in Foundation Studies?
- Students gain a range of basic and life skills such as maths, English and ICT, cooking, horticulture, money management, accessing the community, developing confidence and study skills.
- Friendly staff provide a supportive and caring environment and are on hand to help students reach their potential.
- We encourage students to get involved and take part in enterprise activities which include, making products to sell, setting up and staffing a stand selling Christmas cards and gifts, baking biscuits to sell and raising money for charity. This year we opened our own shop selling a variety of items as well as hosting a variety of enterprise projects.
- Preparation for the world of work is important and there are units to help students apply for jobs and interview practice, with the support of our Employment Coach. All students participate in work experience and/or voluntary work.
I came to the college as I had heard that this is the best college to learn English. I feel safe studying here and all the staff at the college are kind and supportive. They are very approachable and always ready to help if I need an extra help or cannot understand the work. They are also funny which makes learning fun too.
