UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Performance (U4DPAF)

Applicants should normally have achieved one of the following:

• A UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts, ideally at Merit grade or above.
  
• 3 x A-Levels at Grade C or above. An equivalent Level 3 qualification that demonstrates suitable academic achievement and preparation for higher-level study.
  
  Applicants should also have previous training and experience in the performing arts, with a background in one or more of the following pathways: Acting, Dance or Music.
  
  An audition and/or interview may form part of the admissions process to assess performance skills, potential and commitment to professional training.

The UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Performance is suitable for learners who are committed to developing their performance skills to a professional standard and are considering progression into higher education, drama school or employment within the performing arts industry.

It is ideal for students with previous training in acting, dance or music who are looking to refine their technique, gain professional experience and build the confidence, knowledge and practical skills required for a career in performance.

Teaching is delivered through practical workshops, seminars, rehearsals, tutorials and independent study.

Learners develop their knowledge and practical skills through collaborative projects, performances and reflective practice.

Assessment is through performance and portfolio-based, with students producing a range of practical and written evidence that demonstrates their development, research, professional practice and achievement of the learning outcomes.

Assessment is through a combination of portfolio evidence and practical performance work completed throughout the academic year.

Learners compile a portfolio that includes research, planning, reflective evaluation and evidence from practical workshops, rehearsals and live performances.

All assessment evidence is internally assessed and externally quality assured through UAL moderation.

The formative units are graded on a Pass/Fail basis, allowing learners to develop and refine their skills through feedback. The final major project is summatively assessed and awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction, reflecting the learner's overall achievement against the unit learning outcomes.

The course is fully funded for eligible students aged 16–19.
Learners aged 19 and over are required to pay course fees of approximately £6,000.

Eligible students can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the tuition fees, subject to the latest funding guidance.

The programme is delivered over five days per week, combining practical performance training, rehearsals, seminars and independent study.

The UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Performance prepares learners for progression into higher education, accredited drama schools and employment within the creative industries.

Successful completion of the UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Performance provides a strong foundation for progression to higher education and professional training.

Learners can progress onto Level 5 or Level 6 qualifications, university degree programmes in Acting, Musical Theatre, Performance, Theatre, Dance or Performing Arts, or specialist conservatoire and drama school training.
