This course is condensed into two core areas: understanding assessment rules (theory) and conducting live evaluations (practice).
The Theory:
- Assessment Principles: You will learn the legal and professional frameworks required to be a qualified assessor
- Regulations: Understanding health, safety, data protection, and confidentiality laws
- Fairness: Learning how to adapt assessments for diversity and special needs
- Quality Standards: Ensuring all decisions are Valid, Authentic, Current, and Sufficient (VACS)
- The Assessment Cycle: Mastering the four stages: Planning, Judging, Feedback, and Quality Assurance.
The Practice: - Workplace Evaluation: You will apply your skills by assessing two real learners performing two tasks each in a live working environment
- Planning: Preparing learners and writing formal assessment plans
- Evaluating: Observing hands-on work, inspecting products, and asking verbal questions
- Feedback: Giving constructive verbal and written feedback on performance.
- Logistics: Completing official audit logs and record-keeping documents.

Entry requirements
Candidates need to be aged 19 or older and capable of meeting the demanded standards in assessment or learning delivery contexts. You will require access to a minimum of two active learners and their portfolios.
