Throughout the course, you will develop a portfolio of seam, garment feature, and hem samples to support your learning and future reference.
You will build confidence in applying a range of sewing techniques, become familiar with the safe and effective operation of sewing machines, and complete a basic garment as part of your practical work.
Please note that you will be required to provide your own fabric for the final garment.
Topics include:
- Standard stitches
- Seam types (French, flat-felled, overlocked)
- Skirt making using template patterns
- Waistbands / Vents /Pockets
- Fastenings and inserting a zip
- Trimming and pressing.

You will be provided with an individual kit containing:
- Calico
- Pattern paper
- Waistband interfacing
- A tape measure
- Tailor’s chalk
- A fine liner
