This is a commercial course for adults aged 19 years or over. All candidates pay full fees and there is no funding or concessions. There is an interest free monthly instalment plan available to help spread the costs.
This is a 23-week course which is delivered on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (18:00 – 21:00) and 12 x Saturdays (09:00 – 16:00).
This course is the industry recognised minimum requirement to work in the motor vehicle sector. Candidates with this qualification would be considered competent service technicians.
The course is also popular with hobbyists or those who want to save money by carrying out repairs/servicing on their own cars and prepare for the MOT. This course teaches you how to diagnose and repair/replace steering systems, suspensions, braking systems as well as how to carry out a full comprehensive service on a motor vehicle and carry out pre-MOT checks.
This course also allows you to top up to a full diploma covering engine, gearbox, clutch, electrics and emissions in the following year or at a later date. The diploma is recognised by main dealers.

Entry requirements
There are no pre-requisite qualifications required, however we expect candidates to have a good level of English and basic computer skills.

Who is the course for?
This qualification will allow learners to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and career progression in the automotive industry.

Study methods
Course delivery will be 50% practical and 50% theory.
Suitable safety boots (steel toe cap) will be required and are a mandatory requirement to carry out practical activities in the workshop - the candidate must provide their boots.

- Knowledge of Removing and Replacing Light Vehicle Chassis Units and Components.
- Skills in Health, Safety and Good Housekeeping in the Automotive Environment

How is the course assessed?
Assessment is carried out by practical assessments, phase and multiple-choice online tests.

As per our fees policy: ‘Fee refunds for commercial courses will not be awarded after two weeks before the scheduled start date of the course unless the College cancels the course.’
Certification is based upon the achievement of passing the course content and paying the fees in full. -
