GCSEs/Functional Skills English & Maths

This is the new Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Maths course. The syllabus content can be found on the Edexcel website.

  • Statistics.
  • Entry requirements

    You would normally have a Grade D/3 in GCSE Mathematics, a Level 1 or 2 Functional skills Maths or equivalent. However, there are no set entry requirements. Before starting the course, you will be assessed for suitability and to agree the level you can study. Prior qualifications will be used where appropriate.

  • Who is the course for?

    Achieving at least a Grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics can open up a wide range of new opportunities including promotion at work, university entrance, training courses (teaching/accountancy) or access courses. In addition, you will acquire skills which you can apply in many aspects of your everyday life.

  • Study methods

    The lessons are for 2.5 hours a week on the Uxbridge or Hayes campus - usually on a Tuesday evening. You will receive homework and access to Teams where you can find additional work. You will also have access to MathsWatch- an online maths platform- with extra work and past papers.

  • How is the course assessed?

    There are 3 exams in May and June:

    • 14 May - Maths Paper 1
    • 3 June - Maths Paper 2
    • 10 June - Maths Paper 3.

      The exams are in the morning and cannot be changed.
