As part of Reed’s work delivering the programme, James Reed, Chairman of Reed, and Martin Fallon, Operations Director, visited the Hayes Community Campus where The Work Programme at Uxbridge College is based.
The pair met key project staff including the College’s two Work Programme Co-ordinators, Frances Coombs and Naher Kohinoor; Work Programme Administrator Melanie Hughes; Lorraine Collins Executive Director Enterprise and Development, and Giles Strachan, Partnership Manager.
Giles Strachan, Partnership Manager, said: "Uxbridge College's longstanding expertise in employer-focused skills training and job search support means we are ideally placed to be on board with Reed in delivering The Work Programme.
"This scheme provides a fantastic opportunity for those who want to get back to work to benefit from tailor-made support in every area of their job search."
James Reed, Chairman of Reed, said: "I would like to thank all the staff at Uxbridge College for making us so welcome. It was fascinating to see how our partners are working and I am confident that together we will support hundreds of people into work.”
The Work Programme team is located in a new office with dedicated waiting area and entrance, which the visitors saw. They were also shown one of the training rooms where employability training and job search sessions are held for the students being supported by The Work Programme.
They learned more about the wide range of people Uxbridge College is supporting through the scheme, the issues they face in a difficult job market, and the jobs that they have started finding and securing.
The programme helps people find vacancies and improve their CVs and interview skills, provides skills training, and offers financial support to help with work clothes, travel costs and equipment.
Everyone on the scheme, a government initiative designed to work alongside Jobcentre Plus, gets their own personal Employment Advisor who creates a tailor-made package to help them into work.
