This festive season, HRUC (Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges) is celebrating the spirit of giving by supporting our local communities. Through the incredible support of our staff, we’ve been able to make a real difference for families in need.
We’re proud to share that, thanks to the generosity of our staff, we’re delivering urgently needed items and an extended Executive Management Team contribution to three local food banks:
- Harrow Foodbank
- Richmond Foodbank
- Yiewsley & West Drayton Foodbank.
While our original pledge was to match donations up to a certain limit, we chose to go even further, donating the full capped amount of £500 per site to maximise our support, in partnership with the Trussell Trust.
From hygiene essentials to non-perishables, our campuses came together in a powerful act of collective kindness.
Food and support to local people
On Tuesday 2 December Sonia Lollia ((Employee Experience Manager), Yashvi Prajapati (Employee Experience Administrator), Usha Chowdhury (Wellbeing and Inclusion Officer) and Yash Gill (Graphic Designer) visited the Yiewsley and West Drayton Foodbank Centre on behalf of Uxbridge College. As well as making food donations weighing approx. 30-35 kg, together with monetary donations, they presented a ceremonial cheque signed by HRUC CEO, Keith Smith, to Marianna Bahlay of Yiewsley and West Drayton Foodbank.
Yiewsley and West Drayton Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. The Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis.
HRUC representatives visited Harrow Foodbank in late November and will be visiting Richmond Foodbank on Wednesday 10 December to make similar donations and present ceremonial cheques.
