Supporting your success

The Uxbridge College Advice Network brings together a range of support services from across the College to ensure that help and advice on everything from courses to careers, to personal issues is available to those who need it.

Advice and Support before and after you join the College

At Uxbridge College our Information, Advice and Guidance team are here to help you make the best choice for your future.  They provide free and impartial advice to potential students before they join the college and to students who are already studying with us. So, if you want to plan for university, get the right skills for a great career, retrain and update your skills, or are still not quite sure what you want to do, our advisors are here to help. 

Our advisors can provide you with information about the courses or training opportunities that will suit you, so you can get the information you need to prepare you for your next steps.

  • Drop into one of the Career Centres at our Uxbridge or Hayes campuses. They are open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. (The centre on our Hayes Campus closes between 1-2pm. Evening appointments may also be available on request - call 01895 853333 for more details.)

Student Support
Staff are here to offer you a friendly helping hand when you need it most. Whatever your concerns or worries they can provide you with the help and advice you need. They can help with personal issues, financial information, relationship advice, advice on childcare, information to help you keep safe and healthy and much more.

Careers advisers
Our careers service is available for all students and offers one-to-one careers support on the options available to you when you have completed your course. They can help you choose appropriate courses to set you on the right career path, or progress in your existing career as well as advising you on further study and higher education. Our staff can also provide information and advice on jobs and careers.

Financial assistance
There are some grants and allowances that may be available to help you with your study. For more information about the financial help available, and to see if you are eligible, please see Fees and Costs.

Support if you have a disability

The Learning Support service can help students who may have one or more of the following difficulties:

  • A physical disability
  • Deaf/hard of hearing
  • A visual impairment
  • Dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia
  • Other learning difficulties including moderate learning difficulties and Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Recovering from long term ill-health or mental illness.

Our learning support and disability advisers will help identify any assistance you may need and let you know about the help the College can provide.It is very important to apply early for your course and let Learning Support know of any support you may require for your studies, so we can assess your needs and make suitable arrangements.

We are continuing to invest in assistive hardware and software to provide students with increased access to the technology available in the College, to enhance learning.
